This study investigates the characteristics of African-American fathers that predispose them to be more or less involved in their children's lives following divorce.  Researchers find that fathers who experience conflict with residential mothers, who live far away and who are unsure of their role as a father are less likely to be involved with their children following the break up of their relationship with the residential mother.
