This paper examines unwed fathers' paternity acknowledgement and involvement with their child at birth in the United Kingdom.  It compares  unmarried parents who move in together to those who continue to live apart and analyses differences in involvement among fathers who move in with their child's mother at birth and those who move in when the child is older.  Finally, it examines levels of involvement and financial support among nonresidential fathers nine months after birth.
