This paper discusses grandparenthood, including the roles, rights and responsibilities of grandparents and their emotional, financial and material support of their grandchildren. It also looks at the effects of family geographic proximity, and the grandparent's age, gender, race, employment and marital status on the closeness of the grandparent-grandchild relationship.
