Resident Fathers' Perceptions of their Roles and Links to Involvement with Infants

This study analyzed whether fathers' perceptions of the importance of their roles influenced their involvement with infants in five ways: caregiving, warmth, nurturing activities, physical care, and cognitively stimulating activities.  Researchers found that fathers who were economically disadvantaged, less educated and unmarried tended to have less positive perceptions of their roles as fathers and were less involved with their infants.
