This paper examines factors that motivate adult children to spend time and effort to care for their elderly, disabled parents.  It looks at the extent to which this is done out of altruism or the expectation of a reward.  It also discusses the positive and negative effects that caring for an elderly parent can have on individuals' financial and psychological well-being, as well as on their sense of satisfaction with the choices they have made.
