This paper discusses the prevalence of youth crime in the United Kingdom including trends in offenses, outcomes for juvenile offenders, and explanations for adolescent involvement in criminal activities. It also explores the link between truancy and offending, discusses adolescent alcohol and drug consumption, and examines the attitudes and perceptions of young people towards crime and the criminal justice system. Crime-related fears and experiences of the youth surveyed are also noted.
