This paper demonstrates that children living in nuclear families or with their mother and her partner have better health outcomes than children living in extended families or with a single parent.  It suggests that different living arrangements may be due in part to racial and ethnic differences, but concludes that these findings are more attributable to differences in socio-economic status.
