This research brief examines measurements of family strength used by national family surveys.  Measurements include positive parental mental health, family routines, time use, communication and praise, parental supervision and involvement, and parent-child warmth and supportiveness.  The authors suggest that an ongoing study of family strengths is important in order to achieve a balanced and accurate picture of family well-being.
