This paper examines the different rates of employment for married mothers in Britain and Spain.  It finds that British mothers are more likely to participate in the workforce and explains this in terms of higher wages and more accessible child care.  It suggests that, as Europe becomes more unified and developmental differences diminish, the gap between these two countries will lessen substantially.
