This paper relies on data from the Survey of Labour and Income Dynamics to evaluate the prevalence of child poverty in Canada. The study found that the percentage of children in poverty in 2004 is the same as 1989 and that families fluctuate in and out of low income situations. While children from lone parent homes are at more risk for poverty, half of children from low income homes live with two parents.
