This paper explores various family and neighbourhood characteristics to determine their effect on children’s lives. It looks specifically at the impact of household income, family geographic proximity, and neighbourhood characteristics on child well-being.  It suggests that differences in neighbourhood composition and stability, as well as neighbour relations, partially explain the variations in child circumstances according to geographic location.
