This paper examines the effects of job loss and unemployment on men's feelings of masculinity in rural settings, and the effect that this has on their ability to maintain functional family relationships.  It explores the correlation between poverty and single parenthood in rural communities and suggests that male unemployment poses a threat to family stability.
