This report describes major trends in family structure, migration, demographic aging, the AIDS pandemic, and globalization as they affect families and the institution of the family in Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine. The policy implications of these changes are discussed and interventions that promote the family unit as the basis of a strong society are recommended.
