This report, updates past data on the financial costs of children for two-parent and single-parent families in the United States in 1999.   It  looks at expenditures for housing, food, transportation, clothing, health care, education, child care, and miscellaneous goods and services and finds that, for 1999 in a two-parent household, the cost of a single child was between $8450 and $9530.
