This paper examines the relationship between fertility rates and growing economic inequality.  It demonstrates that poor families choose to have more children and to invest less in education than their more wealthy counterparts.  The authors argue that this serves to slow economic growth, particularly in countries that experience a large gap between the rich and the poor.
