This paper compares wealth inequality and income mobility in the United States and Sweden.  It finds that inequality is much greater in the United States, that median wealth is much higher in Sweden, and that income mobility is similar in both countries. The authors suggest that these differences are primarily the result of the two countries' radically different public saving programs.
