This paper reviews trends in teenage and unwed childbearing in the United States and provides an overview of changes from 1997 to 1999 in state policies designed to prevent teen pregnancy.  Among other things, it finds that teen pregnancy rates are dropping and that abstinence education programs are becoming more common across the United States.
