This paper examines two theories pertaining to the impact of delinquency on the educational attainment of poor and non-poor youth.  One theory posits that the effects of delinquency on educational attainment are greater for poor youth, while the other argues that the effects are less.  This study finds support for the latter theory, and suggests that middle and upper-class youth have more to lose as a result of delinquent behaviour.
