This paper reports on 87 regionally-based discussion sessions with those involved in day-to-day primary school education in Britain including children, staff, managers and parents. The authors report positive feedback regarding school settings but negative feedback regarding the pressure placed on students. The authors suggest that policy-driven demands on schools, narrow curriculum, and commercially-driven values harm children. The also acknowledge the negative impact of the changing cultural climate including family breakdown and the loss of respect and empathy. This report is part of an ongoing evaluation of primary education in Britain.
