This study surveys public schools in the United States to determine the type of sex education programs in place.  It finds that a significant number of schools have abstinence-only programs, although abstinence-plus programs, which promote abstinence but also teach about contraception, are more common.  A smaller number have comprehensive sex education programs, which teach abstinence as simply one option available to teens.
