Relocation of Children After Divorce and Children’s Best Interests: New Evidence and Legal Considerations

This study investigated the outcomes of children whose custodial parent relocated after a divorce compared with those children who experienced a divorce but no move.  It found that, in general, children who moved were significantly more disadvantaged than those who did not.  The authors suggest that the family courts should take these findings into consideration when deciding whether or not to allow a parent to relocate.
