This paper explores the state of marriage in th US and finds that it is rapidly deteriorating and, as a result, children are suffering. It discusses the negative consequences of divorce, including an increase in poverty and a decline in child health and well-being. It argues that marriage is, on the whole, better for children and society than divorce, separation, or cohabitation, and it recommends that the nation focus on encouraging and preserving this institution.
