This paper presents the results of a study that investigates the experiences of 38 young people who have at least one parent with a substance abuse problem.  It discusses the young people's childhood experiences, current situation, coping strategies, and future prospects and aspirations. The authors intend to provide a window into the experiences of the hundreds of thousands of children and youth who live with drug or alcohol dependent parents.
