This article examines attitudes towards rape within marriage in Australia, and highlights legal changes that have begun to address this form of sexual violence. It discusses the reluctance of women to disclose incidents of rape by their spouse, as well as the reluctance of researchers to study this topic. It argues that sexual violence within marriage has a significant negative impact on women's health and emotional well-being and thus needs to be addressed.
