This report provides information on the incidence and prevalence of rape, physical assault and stalking based on the results of the National Violence Against Women Survey.  It also examines the rates of injury among women who are raped and assaulted, and investigates the use of medical services by women injured in this way.  It states  that violence against women is more widespread and has more serious consequences than previous research suggests.
