This annual report is part of an ongoing initiative to inform the public about family violence issues and provides current data on the nature and extent of family violence incidents in Canada and trends over time. The report also provides the most recent police-reported data on spousal violence, violence against older adults and children and youth committed by family members, and family homicides. The special focus of this report is criminal justice and other system responses to the problem of family violence, including responses by police, courts, and correctional services, as well as Canada’s transition homes for victims of family violence.
