In this paper the author uses adult retrospective surveys to examine the prevalence and characteristics of childhood sexual abuse. Among other things, this study suggests that at least 20% of women experienced some form of childhood sexual abuse and that in the vast majority of cases the perpetrator was well known to the victim.
