This paper examines theories, antecedents, and preventions of adolescent mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, drug and alcohol use, and eating disorders. It finds that genetics, individual, family, peer, and neighbourhood characteristics, and media influences significantly affect adolescent mental health.
