This paper examines the effects of Bulgaria's economic transition on children's economic well-being, health, and education. It focuses particularly on children considered to be the most vulnerable - those born to teenage and single mothers and those living in institutions.  Its findings suggest that recent economic changes in Bulgaria have contributed to significant deprivation and hardship for this group of children.
