This paper provides extensive statistical information pertaining to child deaths due to injuries in industrialized nations.  It demonstrates that injury is the most common cause of child death in the developed world, with 20,000 dying every year.  Its statistics also show, however, that the overall risk of child death by injury is small and has declined significantly over the past thirty years.
