This article examines changes in Canada's infant and child mortality rate in the twentieth century.  It finds that although the rate has declined dramatically and is considerably lower than the US rate, there is still some income disparity, with the poorest neighbourhoods experiencing mortality levels two thirds higher than the richest neighbourhoods.
