This report examines macrosomia (large birth weight) among the First Nations community in British Columbia. The authors suggest that macrosomia is associated with high risk deliveries and infant health problems. While rates of diabetes are lower among First Nations mothers than non First Nations mothers, the rates have been increasing in this the community which could be related to higher rates of macrosomia.
