This paper examines the effects that prenatal exposure to alcohol has on the developing fetus, focusing on the effects of fetal alcohol syndrome. It discusses the health and developmental outcomes for children who were exposed to maternal drinking in utero, such as attention deficit disorders, decreased cognitive development, poorer academic achievement and learning, memory impairment, and hyperactivity.
