Mediating Factors in Child Development Outcomes: Children in Lone-Parent Families

This paper examines the extent to which children from lone-parent families differ from those of two-parent families according to such factors as family income, parental resources, community resources, and family characteristics.  The results of this study show that these factors contribute strongly to explaining variations in the vulnerability of lone-parent children.  Parental resources (parental skills, parental health, and parental education) appear to have the most influence child outcomes.
