This paper examines trends in family structure and children's living arrangements, and looks at the impact of family structure on child outcomes. It finds that children in single-parent families are more likely to have developmental and behavioural problems than those living with both biological parents. It also explores ways in which to promote healthy marriages and reduce out-of-wedlock childbearing.
