This report examines two questions: 1) Is marriage effective in reducing child poverty? and 2) What is the comparative effect of marriage and maternal education in combating child poverty? The data is collected from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (NLSY) and concludes that although maternal education is beneficial, marriage is more important.
