Substance Use and the Risk of Suicide Among Youths

This study estimates that 3 million youths were at risk of suicide in the United States in 2000, and finds that youths who reported alcohol or illicit drug use were more likely to be at risk than non-users.  It also discusses the importance of treatment for these youths and shows that less than 40% of at-risk teens received treatment.
