This analysis of data relating to substance abuse by young people in American schools finds that an alarming number of middle and high school students attend schools where alcohol, drugs, and tobacco are kept and sold.  It discusses the many consequences of tobacco, alcohol, and drug use for adolescents and schools, points out problems with current intervention efforts, and suggests strategies that will address this pressing problem.
