This paper discusses the antecedents and consequences of unintended adolescent pregnancies for both men and women. It also addresses the prevalence and predictors of unintended fertility, and finds that age, sex, ethnicity, education and employment all contribute significantly to the risk of teenage pregnancy. The research also indicates that adolescent mother and fatherhood leads to low self-esteem and a number of social disadvantages.
