This paper describes the challenges and opportunities for young, disadvantaged women in the Canadian economy and outlines approaches to preventing poverty among women aged 15 to 24.  The study draws on a sample of aboriginal women from two Winnipeg neighbourhoods and highlights their aspirations and the particular challenges they face in escaping poverty.
